The Art of Structural Waterproofing – RASCOR’s 60-Year Success Story

From a small workshop to a globally operating corporate group – RASCOR looks back on six decades of innovation, bold ventures, and international success.
Discover how pioneering spirit, uncompromising quality, and an unrelenting drive for improvement have transformed the world of structural waterproofing – and what visions RASCOR carries into the future.

The Beginning: A Vision Against Moisture
It was the mid-1960s when René P. Schmid had a clear vision in mind: to protect buildings permanently and reliably against moisture – with solutions that didn’t even exist yet. What began in a small Swiss workshop quickly turned into a success story. RASCOR’s first injection and waterproofing technologies set new standards and soon made the company a hidden gem in the industry.

From Basements to Tunnels – Where Others Fail, RASCOR Leads
Early projects focused on the remedial waterproofing of basements and underground garages using resin injections – challenges many considered unsolvable. But RASCOR found solutions where others gave up.
With its proprietary RASCOtank System (a white tank structure with controlled crack joints), specially designed to protect structures against pressurised water, the company set new industry benchmarks. The growing trust of project owners quickly led to major tunnel construction projects. The success did not go unnoticed: international inquiries increased, and RASCOR established itself as a specialist for complex waterproofing solutions.

Expanding Abroad – The Courage to Grow
The 1970s and 1980s were marked by boldness and foresight. While others hesitated, RASCOR took decisive steps to expand internationally – first into neighbouring countries, then far beyond, even overseas.
This expansion meant more than just growth; it was a clear commitment to innovation and progress. At the same time, RASCOR made significant investments in research and development. The result: proprietary product lines, patented methods, and groundbreaking solutions.

Quality and Sustainability – A Promise That Endures
At RASCOR, quality and sustainability have always been deeply rooted. As early as 1999, the company implemented a quality management system certified according to ISO 9001 – a clear commitment to excellence.
In 2009, the second generation took over management and continued this pursuit consistently. “Our mission is clear: to stay at the forefront and further develop structural waterproofing,” says Ruben Schmid, CEO of the RASCOR Group. Sustainability also plays an important role at RASCOR: in 2024, the company was awarded ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. Resource-efficient methods and durable materials are a lived reality.

The Journey Continues – Visions for Tomorrow
Six decades of innovation, and there’s no end in sight: Today, RASCOR is a globally connected company with its own production facilities in Switzerland and Germany, as well as an in-house development laboratory.
But the 60-year anniversary is not a final destination – it’s a driving force. New technologies, sustainable solutions, and the constant pursuit of perfection remain our core motivations.
